The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a professional organization that advances technology to benefit humanity. IEEE operates the nonprofit IEEE Foundation.

In 2023, the IEEE Foundation is celebrating its 50-year anniversary. Throughout the year, the foundation has been showcasing its impact over the past 50 years. Notable highlights include the IEEE Smart Village (ISV), the IEEE History Center, and IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE).

The ISV supports entrepreneurs and engineering professionals around the world with resources to develop clean energy systems. It has supported almost 200 projects in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, benefiting 1.4 million people.

The IEEE History Center preserves the history of technology while honoring pioneers of technological milestones. WIE helps female scientists and engineers advance in their careers while inspiring young girls to study science, math, and engineering.

The IEEE Foundation supports several other projects that provide learning resources to engineering schools, scholarships to engineering students, and networking opportunities for technology professionals. According to IEEE Foundation president Ralph Ford, all are made possible by the generous gifts of IEEE members and donors.
